B&Q Painting

By Uncategorised No Comments

On Friday 4th October 2019 – Colleagues from a number of local B & Q stores joined together to makeover Avon Youth Club in Lawrence Weston, to create a bright, clean and welcoming space. This is one of 50 new good home community projects being supported by B&Q colleagues nationwide to mark the brand’s 50th anniversary.

Avon Youth Club was founded in 1953 and offers a wide range of services to support, engage, develop and inspire young people aged from 8 to 19 to reach their potential.

Colleagues from local B&Q stores arrived at Avon Youth Club – donning their signature orange aprons – to hang news doors, paint, decorate and install new bathroom accessories to give areas of the youth club a new lease of life.

Helen Price, Hon. Secretary from Avon Youth Club, said: “We are really pleased with the results of the B&Q makeover, the areas the team worked on have been completely transformed and are much more appealing to the young people we support. The team brought their home improvement skills and high spirits which made the whole experience enjoyable for all. Thank you.”

Daniel Clevely, Trading Manager at B&Q Hartcliffe, said: “Avon Youth Club is one of the oldest in Bristol and has been providing a fun and welcoming space for young people for decades; the B&Q team were honoured to help in any way they could. To help mark our 50th Anniversary, we’ve committed to 50 good home projects to support local charity and community initiatives. We’re proud to be able to use our skills to create a good home away from home for those in our community that are most in need.”

What a great experience, this was a first time activity for the Club and its members.

We were lucky that this activity was funded by Tennyson Lodge In Clevedon, thank you for their support.

Our young members had a great time and were thankful for the opportunity to do this. We hope to do the same next year.
