Faye from Young Bristol recently came to the Club to help create a mural for one of the walls within the Club.   The section of wall has been transformed into a  beautiful piece of art that radiates the Club. The Club is extremely grateful to Faye and Young Bristol for their support on this project.  Thank you for all involved including the Club Members.

Bristol Brunel Lions President Duncan White along with Vice President Julia O’Neill enjoyed another special evening with the children and staff of Avon Youth Club in Lawrence Weston. Their ongoing support is much appreciated by all the club members, helping with everyday running costs, purchase of sports equipment, provision of refreshments etc. Club leader Tash promised to spend the money wisely and thanked Bristol Brunel Lions for their generosity and continued support.

It was agreed at the meeting that the members of both clubs would take part in a litter pick on the 17th April starting at the Youth club and finishing at Lawrence Weston Community Farm with a picnic lunch. This will be the second such event the clubs have participated in.

Bristol Brunel Lions believe that the service provided by both Avon Youth Club and Lawrence Weston Community Farm to the local young people of the area is vital for their enjoyment, development and well being.

Snow Camp 2017-18

By Snow Camp No Comments

3 of our members have completed a Snow camp course.

Jamie Wilson has now completed the Excel Course which is a young persons biggest step in Snow-Camp.   The course takes place over 10 weeks in the UK and a week long life changing residential trip to the Alps.   Young people master their own skiing or snowboarding and are coached how to teach others to learn to ski or snowboard.   Young people work towards their Snowsport England Level 1 Instructor Qualification, First Aid Certificate and Safeguarding certificate.

The Residential trip gives young people the chance to complete their 35 shadowing hours, assisting internally qualified instructors with their lessons in the mountains, necessary for the qualification.   The Snowsport England Level 1 is fully employable at UK Dry slopes and Indoor Snow Domes and is just one pathway young people may want to take after the course.

This is partly financed by Snowcamp and Avon Youth Club.  Jamie has participated in various fund raising activities, including a Swimathon and sponsored skiing laps.
